This Week's Menu: Pan Fried Pork Chops with Mustard Cream Sauce and Grilled Egg White, Ham, and Cheese Sandwich
Here's a killer pork chop recipe for your Sunday dinner. And you know what? Since the chops were on special at the market, the entire dinner...including the potatoes and asparagus as sides...cost less than four dollars, which made three servings.
Along with that delicious dinner, I've got a protein-rich, diabetic friendly, grilled cheese sandwich which makes a great quick lunch or even a dinner replacement.
Recipes are at the links below.

LUNCH: Grilled Egg White, Ham, and Cheese Sandwich

This Week's Menu: Barbecued Pizza and Buttermilk Pancakes
Nothing says summertime like cooking outside. Pizza is a baked item but no one wants to turn on a hot oven in the kitchen during this hot season...especially in our neighborhood where over-100 temps are the norm this time of year.
But pizza is still a great summer food, especially with an ice-cold beer in your hand. If you have a gas grill with a lid, you've basically got an outdoor oven...perfect for baking.
We'll use that to make our pizza.
For breakfast, we put up our third pancake recipe, this time it's the very classic buttermilk pancake recipe.
Everything you need are at the links below.
BREAKFAST: Buttermilk Pancakes

This Week's Menu: The Magic of Compounding - Pan Fried Rib Eye Steak with Compound Butter and Chilaquiles con Huevos
Picture by Letty Musick - copyright 2016
We're doing our pan-fried rib eye steaks again on the gas barbecue but the catch this week is adding a bit of compound butter on top to compound the taste. This is a very easy way to add a deeper level of flavor to the meat.
For Breakfast, it's one of my favorite Mexican specialties, Chilaquiles con Huevos (or tortilla chips and eggs).
Recipes at the links below.
CONDIMENT: Compound Butter
DINNER: Pan-Fried Rib Eye
BREAKFAST: Chilaquiles con Huevos

This Week's Menu: Buffalo Style Chicken Thighs and Chorizo and Eggs
Chicken wings are so good but it's a lot of work for just a few bites of meat. We fix that by using thighs instead and a homemade Buffalo sauce that's easy and out-of-this-world good.
Some farmer's market dollar-a-pound squash makes a medley for the side dish and breakfast is one of our easy staples, chorizo and eggs.
Recipes are at the links below.
DINNER: Buffalo Chicken Thighs
SIDE: A summer squash medley using our basic super side barbecue vegetable recipe

This Week's Menu: 49'r Flapjacks and Barbecued Pork Belly
We were at Costco recently and came across a big package of pork belly in the meat section. Hmm, never made anything with this precursor to bacon. Why not? I'll see what I can do.
Today is the results of that experiment, which came out quite well in my opinion.
We're also starting the day off with a very popular dish in pancake houses across the nation. Love 46'r flapjack, those thin but oh-so-good pancakes you get there. Don't love how much you have to pay for them, though, so I came up with a way to cook them at home where they taste just as good as the cakes you get in the restaurant but made for a fraction of the price.
This week's menu is ready to go! Recipes at the links below.
Breakfast: 49'r Flapjacks
Dinner: Barbecued Pork Belly

Your Sunday menu relies on ground and chopped meat this week. Dinner is an IKEA favorite, done homemade with brown rice instead of pasta. Breakfast is a hearty bayou inspired dish.

This Week's Sunday Menu: PrimeTri Tip Steak with Roasted Potatoes with Bacon and Eggs
Meat and potatoes...delicious ones...for those of us on a low-sodium diet.
The entree for this week's dinner is some fantastic tri tip steak. USDA Prime that I found for $7.99 per pound. Great deal.
Breakfast uses our standard scrambled eggs recipe but we're cooking some delicious Danish bacon
Get the recipes below:
Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs and Bacon (for an added treat, cook the eggs in the bacon grease after you cook that).
Dinner: Tri Tip Steaks and Roasted Potatoes

This week's Sunday Menu: Pan Fried Pork Chops and Intercontinental Scramble
I know I said I mostly cook on the barbecue and then had recipes from the kitchen. Well, we'll be in a kitchen for a few weeks but I'll still go easy on you.
Pork chops...but no applesauce...are on this week's dinner menu. It's hard to find good pork these days but do the best you can. The sauce on this one will help make up for it.
Breakfast is an intensely delicious item that I came up with, kind of a mix of chilaquiles and some of the French scrambles that I'd cook in France.
They're both very good and pretty easy, too. Click on the links for full recipes.
DINNER: Pan Fried Pork Chops with scratch made mashed potatoes.
BREAKFAST: Intercontinental Scramble.

A Ribeye Steak, French Toast, and some Sunday Sauce
Welcome to the debut of the latest Musick Channel blog. This one is for food.
No, I'm not a professional chef or even that experienced of a cook. My wife, Letty, is the cook of the family but I am trying to do my part to pitch in.
I've had some successes, and some failures (ask my son about 'caramel beef' sometime) but I am seeing a gradual and steady increase in quality of my cooking.
I've also found out that cooking good food to be enjoyed by others is actually really fun.
The weekends have become mine in the kitchen. Letty cooks a couple of dinners during the week so I'll give her a break and cook on the weekends. What the means, logistically, is that I'm responsible for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday plus dinner on Sunday (we go out to eat Saturday night).
My plan here on the blog is to present my Sunday menu (hence the name of the blog), with recipes and cooking instructions, to document my journey and, hopefully, to inspire you to pick up a spatula and frying pan to join me. After all, home cooking is the best cooking of all.
Let's kick it off with our first menu...
Breakfast: French Toast
The best way to use up your stale bread and have an absolutely delicious meal.
Dinner: Barbecued ribeye steak
The king of steaks and a classic meat to cook on the grill.
Served with roasted potatoes and corn on the cob.
